Reservations
- How do I book?
Reservations open 30 days in advance at 12pm exclusively via OpenTable. Walk-ins are welcome at the bar, seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. - What if I don’t see a reservation available on OpenTable?
If no reservations are listed, we’re fully committed for the evening. We recommend adding yourself to the waitlist using the “Notify Me” button on your preferred date. - Do you offer options for large parties (7+) or private events?
Yes! Please submit an event inquiry to learn more about our events and private dining options. - What’s your cancellation policy?
Changes can be made through OpenTable up to 24 hours before your reservation. Late cancellations or no-shows are subject to a $50 per person charge. - How long is my table held?
We seat full parties together and hold tables for 15 minutes. - Where is The Happy Crane located, and what are the parking options?
The Happy Crane is located in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley neighborhood. Our address is 451 Gough Street. Street parking is limited. Closest garages are Performing Arts Garage (360 Grove St, across the street) and Civic Center Garage (355 McAllister St). Rideshare and public transit (Van Ness MUNI, Civic Center BART) are recommended.
Dining Experiences
- How do I reserve the Peking Duck ?
Our signature Peking Duck is cooked to order and available by advance booking only for parties of four or more. Availability is extremely limited, please reserve through the Peking Duck Experience option on OpenTable. We’re working to expand offerings very soon. - What is the “Happy As a Crane” menu?
A multi-course tasting by Chef James Yeun Leong Parry featuring seasonal highlights. $120 per person (tax + gratuity not included), available for full table participation only. Wine pairings available. - What is your seating capacity?
The restaurant seats 73 guests in total – 60 in the main dining room and 13 at the bar. The semi-private dining room offers an intimate setting for up to 12 guests.

- Can you accommodate allergies or dietary restrictions?
We do our best to accommodate with advance notice. Please note:- We cannot accommodate soy bean allergies.
- Soy sauce and certain dishes contain gluten and cannot be modified.
- Seasonal changes may affect available substitutions.
Do you have non-alcoholic options?
Absolutely! We offer a thoughtful selection of non-alcoholic cocktails and beers curated by our Bar Manager, Carolyn Kao, and Kevin Diedrich of P.C.H., alongside a tea program by Annie Chen of Teaphile.- Are there any additional fees or service charges I should know about?
- Corkage: $55 (750 ml, 2 bottle limit) & $110 (1.5 L, 1 bottle limit)
- Cake Cutting: $9 per slice
- Surcharges: 5% SF Health Care | 20% gratuity for parties of 6+
Guest Policy & Accessibility
- Are children welcome?
Yes — please include all children and babies in your reservation. Highchairs and boosters are limited. Due to our intimate space, the bar area is for adults only. - Can I bring my dog?
Only ADA service animals are permitted inside. A quick note ahead of time helps us prepare your table. - Is the restaurant accessible?
Yes. Our entrance, dining room, and restrooms are wheelchair accessible. Service animals are welcome, and we’re happy to arrange additional accommodations with advance notice. - Is there a dress code?
No, come as you are! 🙂
